Nylon was chosen for the core fiber based on its proven energy-absorbing properties, strength, and durability. Polyester was selected for the sheath due to its exceptional resistance to chemicals and abrasion. Though these materials are commonly used in rope construction, their configuration in Vector Lifeline is unique.
Rescue operations are characterized by uncertainty. You never know exactly what you will find when responding to a call, and the last thing you want to worry about during a high angle emergency is the performance of your lifeline. Petzl set out to make Vector Lifeline the most reliable performer possible. Over 400 drop tests were performed in the development phase, producing tangible evidence that Vector performs more consistently than any other rescue rope on the market.
