Personal Escape Rope Kits (PERK) are a one-time, single person lifeline that have become standard equipment in the fire fighting community. This kit contains the following components:

  Made exclusively for rescueDIRECT.com by BlueWater Ropes! The next generation of Searchline / Personal Escape Rope. Our exclusive RETRO-REFLECTIVE strand is woven through the sheath for excellent visibility in low light situations. Innovative sheath design features a 50/50 mix of Technora for heat resistance, strength and cut resistance, and polyester for high visibility and an indicator for excessive heat exposure. The Nylon core provides cross section stability during rappels and offers some forgiveness in "shock load" situations. Personal Escape Ropes (PER) are a one-time, single person lifeline that have become standard equipment in the fire fighting community. As opposed to hollow core (flat) searchline, our rope remains firm and round making it much easier to be located by feel with gloved hands. UL Certified to NFPA 1983/2001 standards for Personal Escape Ropes.

• SMC NFPA Escape 8

  The red anodized Escape 8 is manufactured exclusively for rescueDIRECT by SMC. An ultralight, compact personal escape device for firefighters in bailout situations. NFPA Rated "E" - required minimum breaking strength 14 kN. CNC machined from 3/8" thick aircraft aluminum.

• TWO Omega Pacific NFPA Locking Carabiners

  These UL-Classified carabiners are the proper choice for "L" class applications and for personal escape use. AUTOLOCKING gate mechanism for additional security! Meets NFPA 1983.01 edition construction requirements. Exceeds NFPA 1983.01 edition strength requirements.

• Nomex PERK storage bag

  This bag is made with black Nomex IIIA Fabric and features a velcro top closure with 2” webbing finger tab. May be threaded through a belt on clipped onto SCBA or turnouts with an additional carabiner. On the bottom of the bag is placed a grommet for removal of water which may enter the bag during firefighting activities. The bag will hold up to 50 feet of 8 mm rescue rope, 2 locking “D” carabiners, and one descender.

The techniques employed in the proper and safe use of this equipment may only be learned through personal instruction received from an instructor who is well qualified in all phases of vertical rope work. You must thoroughly read and understand all manufacturers instructions before use. Use and inspect this equipment only in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Never attempt to use this or any personal escape equipment until you have received appropriate instruction!
